Enjoy Julius Meinl's latest limited edition microlot specialty coffee, sourced from the Muungano Cooperative in the South Kivu region of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Experience the rich sweetness of Muscovado sugar and a syrupy body, complemented by the fruity brightness of lime. Luscious notes of honeydew melon and green kiwi emerge as this coffee cools, rounded off with a gentle, nutty aftertaste. The Bourbon variety’s natural sweetness and complexity, combined with the clarity and brightness from the washed processing, creates an exceptionally clean, vibrant, and refined coffee.

THE ORIGINALS CONGO MUNGAANO
This microlot coffee is sourced from the Muungano cooperative in the South Kivu region of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Muungano means "togetherness" in Swahili, representing the cooperative's spirit of unity and collaboration.
The DRC was once a major world coffee producer, but decades of conflict, corruption, and poverty devastated the industry. Coffee production dropped by around 90%, and the remaining producers(around 50% female) often risked dangerous journeys across the border to Rwanda to sell their coffee at better prices.
The Muungano cooperative plays an important role in the recovery of the industry, empowering over 4,300 farmers to improve coffee quality, access markets safely, and secure fairer prices.
