Coffee craftsmanship and artistry converge for the Julius Meinl Barista Cup. This year, Julius Meinl Baristas from around the world will compete for the title of top barista, showcasing their exceptional knowledge and passion for creating the perfect coffee.

The competition is open to participants who are at least 18 years old and currently employed as a barista at an establishment, such as a cafe, hotel, or restaurant, that serves Julius Meinl coffee. Additionally, participants must either reside or hold citizenship in the region of the local competition in which they compete.

What to prepare:

  • A video of yourself preparing a shot of espresso, frothing milk and free pouring latte art. The video should begin with the espresso extraction at the machine and end with a close up of your final latte art in the cup. Ensure your face is visible for at least part of the video. (Max 3 min) 
  • A photo of your signature coffee drink, and a short description of the ingredients and how to prepare it. The recipe must include at least one shot of espresso. Show us your creativity!


Top applicants will be invited to compete in their national competition. The competition has 3 categories: 

  • Espresso, 
  • Cappuccino and 
  • Signature Drink

Each category will be evaluated by a panel of expert judges. The participant with the highest overall score across all categories will be crowned the national champion and win a trip to Vienna to compete in the Grande Finale. A representative from their company will also be invited to join.


National  winners compete alongside each other at the Grande Finale, hosted at the Julius Meinl global headquarters in Vienna. 

The grand finale will have the same 3 categories: Espresso, Cappuccino and Signature Drink. The highest scorer in each individual category will be crowned a winner. 

The 3 champions will each win a trip to Honduras, with many other prizes to be won.
