Our future. More than a moment.
At Julius Meinl, we feel a strong sense of responsibility to our planet as well as those involved at every stage of our coffee and tea journey as we work together to bring premium quality to every cup.
As a fifth-generation family business, it is up to us to take an active role in creating positive impact along our entire value chain.
Brewing Change: Our Sustainability Agenda 2030
At the heart of our mission is a focus on sustainability, centered around three key pillars: responsible sourcing of coffee, minimizing environmental impact, and strengthening employee engagement. These pillars drive our commitment to a lasting, positive impact.
Responsibly Selected Coffee Initiative
Enjoying a cup of Julius Meinl coffee is about more than just taste; it's knowing that the coffee you’re drinking comes from one of our responsibly selected partners who are committed to fostering a more sustainable coffee industry.
‘Responsibly Selected Coffee’ means our coffee is sourced through sustainability schemes that align with the Global Coffee Platform’s (GCP) standards. By the end of 2025, we aim for all coffee purchased globally and roasted in our Vienna and Vicenza plants to meet this standard. As of 2023, 42% of our coffee is responsibly selected, and we are steadily increasing this proportion.
Generations Program
We are committed to the future of coffee as much as we honour its rich history. Through our Generations Program, we work with partners to implement projects in coffee origin countries. These initiatives preserve farming knowledge across generations and equip farmers with the skills needed to build resilient farms, ensuring coffee’s future amid climate and economic challenges.
Partnerships for a Sustainable Future
At Julius Meinl, we are committed to making coffee and tea more sustainable by working hand-in-hand with suppliers, NGOs, farmer organisations, roasters, communities, and governments to drive ongoing positive change.
