Julius Meinl is turning 160 this year and we’re getting our portrait done to celebrate. Well, kind of.

We’re launching a competition calling on the talented street artists of the world to paint something inspired by a theme that you could say is graffitied all over the walls of our hearts – Viennese coffeehouses. We know that sounds kitschy, but we can’t help ourselves when it comes to coffee.

The global wave of these Julius Meinl street art competitions have already begun, with the first happening in Vienna. It resulted in this futuristic coffee contraption of a masterpiece from Austrian street artist, SIZETWO. which we integrated into our 160 year anniversary cup and coffee tin designs.

The best piece that is submitted will WIN a round trip to our home city, Vienna, Austria.

The street art competition’s concept:

The ridiculously talented artists have been asked to play with the theme of Viennese coffee houses and to express – in their own unique street art style – what these institutions were in the past, are in the present, and what they could look like in 10 to 20 years.

We’ll then have all of the artworks painted as street art murals on the walls of our home base in Vienna.

Learn about Viennese Coffeehouse Culture

The Viennese coffeehouse is like my second living room – it is here that I win my everyday inspiration.

How will the winner be chosen?

Once the selected street artworks are painted at our headquarters, each piece will be photographed and uploaded right here on our website for the public to vote on.

Yep, it’s you our coffee-loving community that will decide who is crowned as the winner.

In August, the final round of artworks will be selected and uploaded right here for you to vote on and in summer the winner will be announced.

Be sure to keep your eyes on our social channels to know when it’s time to cast your vote.

The people decide!

We gave street artists the task to paint a mural inspired by the Viennese coffeehouse of the past, present and future.

The time has come for you, our coffee-loving community, to vote on who pulled this off the best.

Sip at your coffee, wait for it to kick in and go ahead and vote for the best of the best from  the street artwork below.
